Show Love to Kids with Cancer

If you are familiar with Esther’s story, you know that despite her cancer diagnosis, she longed to live a life with meaning. With her narrowed mobility, she focused on the importance of loving those around her. That love is at the root of all we do here at This Star Won’t Go Out: supporting families facing the financial stress of childhood cancer, celebrating Esther Day across the world, and motivating young people to make the world more awesome.

In 2018, as core element of our foundation, we provided direct support to families facing childhood cancer. We gave away as much as we could, yet there were families left on our waiting list when our funds ran out. We need your help to do more! Our goal in 2019 is to double our giving, and to help 50 amazing STAR kids! We believe this can be done and your donation can help us get there.

Our Star Children

The heart of TSWGO's mission is our kids, bravely facing their cancer journey. In the midst of doctor's appointments, too-long hospital stays, yucky medicine and interrupted life, they manage to amaze us with their strength and resilience. While we can't share everyone's story, you will be inspired by the ones posted here.

This Star Won’t Go Out provides direct financial support to families with a child facing cancer.  Caring for a seriously ill child creates tremendous stress for the family system, and through our partnerships with local hospitals and community members we are able to help lighten the financial hardships that many families experience.

This Star Won’t Go Out recently added a new division called Project LOVEly, which aims to support and inspire young people to make the world a better place by living fully and loving deeply in the face of life’s challenges.

Years Serving communities

Established in 2011 in memory of Esther Grace Earl, TSWGO works through local hospitals and healthcare workers to provide financial support to families facing childhood cancer.

children Diagnosed daily

thousand Dollars Given

TSWGO has been able to give out hundreds of grants to help kids with cancer because of the army of young people who donate and host fundraisers to make a difference. Check out Team Awesome--we invite YOU to be part of the story!

Make a Difference

TSWGO works passionately to reduce stress for families facing childhood cancer through giving financial grants, covering the kinds of expenses NOT covered by insurance. While we are proud to say we have given out over $450,000 in grants, what amazes us is that the majority of this sum has been raised by young people who have said with Esther “we just want to make a difference in the world.”  We started calling this the Esther Effect and began to wonder how much more these friends could do given the opportunity.  Project LOVEly is our new grant-giving venture, seeking to inspire young people to actions that instill hope, create spaces of awesome, and demonstrate love in their communities.

Team Awesome

Join our team of awesome people who are not afraid to be themselves as we endeavor to raise funds & awareness for This Star Won't Go Out, a non-profit foundation serving families with children diagnosed with life-threatening cancer.  Consider joining an awesome, nerdy group of runners, joggers, walkers, and more-- as we raise funds and awareness for This Star Won't Go Out.

Esther Day

Since August 3rd, 2010, Esther Day has been celebrated as a day to  verbalize our love for family and friends and let them know how much they mean to us. It's the non-romantic Valentines Day for all the other kinds of love!

Project Lovely

Project LOVEly is a separately funded grant-giving venture from This Star Won't Go Out. Project LOVEly seeks to inspire young people to actions that reflect the "Esther Effect," instilling hope, creating spaces of awesome, and demonstrating love in their communities.

When you make a donation to TSWGO your money goes to help families of children with cancer needing financial assistance. We  hope that your heart will be stirred to make a difference for one of our Star kids!

Just be happy, and if you can’t be happy, do things that make you happy. Or do nothing with the people that make you happy.
