Board Of Directors
Lori Earl is the Executive Director of This Star Won't Go Out, a non-profit supporting families with a child living with cancer. In 2011, the Earl Family founded TSWGO in honor of their daughter Esther Grace, who died at age 16, four years after her diagnosis of thyroid cancer.
Lori is an educator at heart, with certification as a middle and high school teacher, and experience as a college instructor. With degrees in Psychology and Intercultural Studies, Lori is passionate about encouraging others to move towards wholeness, live life fully, and make a difference in their world. Asked what is most important to her, Lori is quick to say it’s her family. She and her husband Wayne have two other daughters, and two sons.
Arielle Roberts is a graduate student studying optometry at The New England College of Optometry. Her passion to help make a difference in people's lives has led her on the path to becoming a doctor. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of This Star Won't Go Out, she also volunteers for The Harry Potter Alliance, a nonprofit organization that uses fans’ love of story to help promote civic engagement and fight injustices in our world. Arielle loves all things nerdy, and in her free time can usually be found simultaneously watching way too many television shows, chatting with friends online, and enjoying a nice cup of tea.
Andrew Slack is the Co-founder and Executive Director of The Harry Potter Alliance, a coalition of fandom leaders and members who feel passionate about the power of story to inspire and affect social change. He is also a Nathan Cummings Foundation Fellow and is spending this year in New York City developing the Imagine Better Network: an unprecedented movement that goes beyond Harry Potter to all fandoms, expounding fantasy not as an escape from our world, but an invitation to change it for the better. Andrew teamed up with Esther in 2010 to win a $250,000 grant from the Chase Community Giving foundation for The HPA.
